Troop 373 Events Back to the listTroop 373 Grand Canyon Backpacking Trip to Havasupai Falls Fall Break October 2005Paradise in the Grand Canyon was the adventure of a lifetime. 30 from Troop 373 and 18 from Crew 345 spent fall break 2005 visiting the Havasupai Indian reservation in Arizona. We drove 1800 miles round trip and backpacked 10 miles into the Grand Canyon thru the Indian village of Supai, AZ. We camped along the most beautiful clear blue river and explored and went swimming in the world famous Havasupai Falls, Mooney Falls, Navaho Falls. This is a very special place to visit and we all will have memories for the rest of our lives. Imagine hiking in the Arizona desert and reaching a 120 foot and a 200 foot waterfall with clear blue water with moss and ferns everywhere. It seems so out of place that you can just imagine what the early explorers and native tribal members must have felt when they reached this paradise. Our group traveled thru western Colorado, thru Moab, Utah to camp in Bluff Utah. We visited an old historic Anasai Indian Ruin and saw amazing Petroglyphs. Next day we drove thru Monument Valley to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. We camped at the top of the Havasupai Falls trail and spent 5 days on the Indian reservation exploring the canyons and beautiful scenery. Meals were fantastic as were the Scouts and family members who went. Thanks to Will and John Myers for wanting to return to this special place and inviting Troop 373 to join them.
