Troop Backpacking Trek to Buffalo Peaks Wilderness Area, June 2008

In June 2008 our Troop organized a two Night Mid-adventure Backpacking Trek.  We backpacked for two days in the beautiful Buffalo Peaks Wilderness Area located just southwest of Fairplay, Colorado.  Total miles backpacked was 13 miles in two days.  We had some very special participants which were three llamas that hiked along with us keeping us company.  Several patrol groups were formed for cooking our meals and we all ate very well.  Some even made the llamas carry their steak kabobs for the first night.  We had two of the Venture Crew females members join us on this trek to help with the campfire songs and stories.  Several of the Scouts were getting ready for going to Philmont and this was a good practice trip for them.
